The vision is born: We start...Our goal is zero! We want to produce climate-neutral at all locations worldwide by 2025.
The wood chip plant in Dingolfing has been ensuring the entire heating supply for the location since 2012. This means we save around 3,000 tonnes of CO2 every year.
Two lighthouse projects in Unterhaching are ensuring climate-friendly production: the sustainable cooling generation and heat recovery as well as the connection to the deep geothermal energy. The central air conditioning system works with CO2 as a natural coolant and saves energy – a real pioneering feat in a production facility at the time. The result of the deep geothermal energy can also be seen: Since 2013, nearly all processes in the plant have been heated with geothermal energy: 100% of the heating comes from deep geothermal energy and the process heat is also primarily generated with geothermal energy.
The first milestone is reached: The production location of Unterhaching and the central administration building are climate-neutral. We compensate for the harmful emissions that are still incurred after the conversions at the location through climate protection projects.
The Bavarian Association of Family Entrepreneurs awards us as the “Bavarian Family Entrepreneur of the Year” with first place in the category of “Sustainability”.
In February 2014, the auditing company Deloitte awards Develey with the Axia Award for its excellent commitment among small and medium-sized companies under the motto “Think sustainably, manage successfully”.
Wastewater in Dijon is cleaned and processed so that it reaches drinking water quality. Residue from the wastewater and other organic waste from production is fed to the company’s own biogas plant. This in turn generates methane gas, which is combusted on site in a small power plant, providing electricity and heat for production.
In September 2014, the jury of the trade journal Lebensmittelpraxis awards Develey with third place for the sustainability award “Ecocare 2014”. The holistic energetic optimisation and CO2 emission reduction at the production location in Unterhaching in particular was honoured. The “Ecocare” goes to companies in the food industry every year who are committed to the three areas of environment, economy and social responsibility with an excellent sustainability concept.
Photovoltaics were installed at the production locations in Pfarrkirchen, Bautzen and Vienna between 2015 and 2017. In Bautzen, for example, PV modules were installed in an area of about 1500 square metres, which now supply the operation directly with power from renewable energy. This makes up a quarter of the entire power requirement – saving a full 90,000 kg of carbon dioxide. By comparison: This corresponds to the power consumption of about 111 single family homes.
After many years of development work, it's finally done. We have replaced the raw material of palm oil in all of our recipes.
We commission a combined power and heat plant at our plant in Dingolfing. This means we generate power and heat from natural gas.
We are proud to be awarded the German Sustainability Award 2020. For us, the award isn’t just a recognition of work we have done in the past, but it also spurs us to continue on this path.
The product range of our products in PET bottles with 30% recycled PET continues to grow: In addition to syrups and vinegars from Mautner Markhof, now all PET bottles from Develey are also made from 30% recycled PET.
All locations of Develey Senf & Feinkost GmbH in Germany are producing climate-neutral. In recent years, we have been able to significantly reduce our harmful emissions through innovative and efficient technologies. All CO2 emissions that are now generated at the locations are compensated for by planting trees. 500,000 trees will be planted in the coming years.
